McGuthrie's 41 help Mount win 11th in row

CORAOPOLIS, Pa. -- Senior guard Chris McGuthrie scored a career-high 41 points to lead Mount St. Mary's to an 80-69 victory over Robert Morris in a Northeast Conference game last night before 1,219 at the Sewall Center.

The Mount won its 11th straight game, its longest winning streak since an 11-game tear in 1985-86.

McGuthrie netted 27 of his points in the first half as the Mount (17-6, 13-2) rolled to a 42-27 advantage. He accounted for more than half of the Mount's 80 points and took 22 of its 56 shots.

The Colonials (4-19, 2-13) were led by Javier Smith's 15 points.

The Mountaineers, who converted 22 of 26 free throws, led by as many as 27 in the second half before emptying the bench.
