Owings Mills' Kessler shoots for 100-0 record

Owings Mills High 145-pound junior wrestler Steve Kessler can reach a milestone today by improving his career record to 100-0 in the first and quarterfinal rounds of the Baltimore County wrestling tournament at Dulaney.

The two-time All-Metro selection is a public school-record 98-0 (45 pins, 29 technical falls) and would finish the tournament with a 102-0 record if he wins the county championship.

The two-time state champ, ranked No. 1 in Maryland, can accomplish some major milestones before he graduates next year:

* He can become the second four-time state champion. Aberdeen's Matt Slutzky (122-5-1) was the first in 1992.

* He can become only the second wrestler from a public school to complete an unbeaten high school career since Paint Branch's Brian Crane (83-0, 1983).

* He can become the third four-time Baltimore County tournament champ.
