Weekend flea market targets boating, fishing enthusiasts


ANGLERS OF all ages can "shop till they drop" at this weekend's two-day fishing and boating flea market sponsored by the Pasadena Sportfishing Group.

The market will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow and Sunday at the Orchard Beach Fire Hall on Solley Road. Admission is $1.

A number of vendors will be offering fishing rods, reels, and other fishing necessities for the sportsman. A selection of new and used boats also will be for sale.

"We have a great crowd each year," said George Bentz. "If you fish and you need something, you can usually find it here."

Food and refreshments will be on sale.

Forum on school safety

The Greater Pasadena Council is presenting a forum on community and school safety at 7 p.m. Thursday at Jacobsville Elementary School, 3801 Mountain Road.

Principals from Bodkin, Lake Shore, Jacobsville, Pasadena and Fort Smallwood elementary schools, Chesapeake Bay Middle School and Chesapeake High School, will join with members of the council and local community associations to promote open communication between school and community leaders.

Participants will have the opportunity to exchange concerns about student behavior and violence in the community and schools.

Prom shopping event

The Chesapeake High School senior class is having a one-stop shopping event next week that could be valuable, especially if you are the parent of a high school student getting ready for the prom season.

Prom Expo '96 will be held from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the school's student center. Admission is $5.

A fashion show will feature gowns and dresses from Nordstrom, Gantos and Georgetown Cotton, plus tuxedos from Small's. Hair and makeup advice will be available from representatives of Clinique, Mary Kay Cosmetics and Rumors Salon.

Refreshments and door prizes will also be featured.

Proceeds will benefit senior class activities.

Sign up to play ball

The Greater Riviera Beach Recreation Council will offer a last-chance registration session for spring and summer ball.

Boys and girls can register from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at Sunset Elementary School on Fort Smallwood Road.

Copies of birth certificates are required for registration.
