Preferred Health Network, a health maintenance organization, is relocating from Catonsville to Airport Square in Linthicum.
PHN, formed in 1986, has about 100 employees who design and develop health plan benefits, contract with doctors and market a portfolio of the company's programs.
The firm signed a 12-year lease, effective July 1, for 24,000 square feet of office space in the 1000 block of Winterson Road.
The company is owned by 14 community-based hospitals and academic institutions such as North Arundel Hospital and Greater Baltimore Medical Center. It serves the Baltimore-Washington region and has 25 hospitals and 3,600 physicians in its network. The plan provides coverage for 50,000 members.
Although a spokeswoman for PHN would not reveal the price of the company's lease at Airport Square, space there rents for an average of $14 to $15 per square foot.
Thomas W. Greene, vice president of Airport Square, said the occupancy rate at the Winterson Road building will be 98 percent when PHN moves into the third-floor space.
Current tenants are GTE; Tecore Inc., a telecommunications firm; Parkway Mortgage; Olsten Temporary Service; and a Hardee's restaurant regional office.
