Outlook: UMBC (1-9 in Big South Conference) got 14 points from freshman Alhamisi Simms (10.6 ppg) and 13 from senior Tony Thompson (16.5 ppg), but fell to Charleston Southern, 68-46, on Saturday. The Retrievers shot 30 percent from the field in losing for the sixth time in seven games. UMBC was beaten by Winthrop last month, 69-63, despite 31 points from Thompson. The Retrievers, who are 1-12 away from home, lead the series 4-3. Winthrop has lost three straight, including a 92-82 defeat against Radford on Saturday, and is 4-6 in the Big South. Winthrop also has the worst defense in the conference, allowing more than 82 ppg. Senior G David McMahan averages about 15 points.

Florida A&M; (6-16) at Coppin State (12-8)

Outlook: The nation's longest home winning streak is at 37 games, and Coppin State will look to extend it against a team that lost to the Eagles last month, 81-65. Coppin is 9-1 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and coming off Thursday's 93-79 victory over Bethune-Cookman. Junior Terquin Mott had 27 points and 12 rebounds. He's averaging 20.9 ppg and leads the nation with a 70.3 shooting percentage. Junior F Reggie Welch averages 17.9 ppg. Coppin leads the series 14-6, and has won eight straight. Florida A&M; lost to Morgan State on Saturday, 81-74, despite 27 points, 15 rebounds and nine blocks from 7-foot-1 Jerome James. The Rattlers are 1-11 in the MEAC.

Bethune-Cookman (9-11) at Morgan State (5-17)

Radio: WEAA (88.9 FM)

Outlook: Morgan State (4-7 in MEAC) ended a five-game slide by defeating Florida A&M; on Saturday, 81-74. Senior G Paul Grant (11.7 ppg) had 21 points and freshman Rasheed Sparks (9.0 ppg) added 15 points. The Bears will try to avenge a 68-58 loss to Bethune-Cookman last month. The Wildcats are 5-6 in the MEAC and coming off a 72-58 loss to Howard, their third straight defeat after a five-game winning streak.
