Ukrainian eggs, butterfly houses among handiwork at crafts fair


MAGOTHY COOPERATIVE Nursery School is sponsoring a juried craft fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow at Magothy United Meth- odist Church fellowship hall.

The handiwork of more than 20 artisans will be featured.

Items include Ukrainian eggs; bird, bat and butterfly houses and feeders; wooden trolls; painted clothing for adults and children; specialty chocolates; lathe art; etched glass; handmade pottery; and Native American art and jewelry, said Donna Madej, school spokeswoman.

The nursery school will be selling baked goods, refreshments and toys.

Scouts sponsor pasta dinner

Fill your tummy and help local Scouts get to camp this summer. Boy Scout Troop 478 is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow at Community United Methodist Church, 8680 Fort Smallwood Road.

The cost is $4 for adults and $2 for children and includes salad, bread, a dessert and drink.

Auxiliary's dinner tonight

The Auxiliary of American Legion Post 277 will have a sweethearts' dinner from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the post home on Carbide Road.

Tickets cost $5, which includes baked ham platter with vegetables.

This event will replace a dance, originally scheduled for Sunday. Anyone holding dance tickets may use them for tonight's dinner.

Seminars for anglers

The Pasadena Sportfishing Group will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Orchard Beach Fire Hall on Solley Road.

After a brief business meeting, six seminars with hands-on demonstrations for anglers of all ages will be held.

Membership is free. Membership cards feature discounts at local merchants.

Students actors need gear

Cleaning out your closet? Then maybe you have a few items that the Chesapeake High School Theatre Group could use in its spring production of "Oklahoma!"

"Our student actors are in need of Western gear, including hats, belts, boots and chaps," said Joyce Santoni, group spokeswoman.

Program ads are being accepted from local businesses. Prices vary from $100 for a full-page ad to $25 for a quarter-page one. The deadline is Thursday

Openings in Holy Land tour

A Holy Land tour in May, led by the Rev. Frederick Ramsay of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, has room for a few more travelers.

The group will depart May 6 and return May 17.
