Robert Manigold ascends to ARINC vice presidency


ARINC, the Annapolis-based communications systems engineering and integration firm, announced that Robert E. Manigold Jr. has been promoted to vice president of human resources and administration. He joined the company in 1985 from the management consulting firm of Kors, Marlar, Savage & Associates, where he was a senior associate. An accounting graduate of the State University of New York, he resides in West River.

Science Center names 2 senior directors


Maryland Science Center has chosen Maris St. Cyr and Judith Hallberg as senior directors at the educational tourist attraction on the south shore of the Inner Harbor.

Ms. St. Cyr, formerly with Planned Parenthood, is a graduate of St. Francis College and will be senior director of marketing. She will develop and coordinate advertising, promotion, public relations, publications, promotions and events.

Ms. Hallberg will be assigned as senior director of programs and will develop all aspects of new program initiatives of the center. She was, before joining the science center staff, associate producer and project administrator of the Synergy Project, a television documentary series.


Image Dynamics picks Olsen as senior account executive

Image Dynamics has selected David P. Olsen as a senior account executive.

He will be responsible for developing public relations and marketing programs for the agency's Black & Decker Co. account.

Mr. Olson holds B.A. and master's degrees from Brigham Young University. He joined the Baltimore-based advertising firm from Ketchum Communications in Washington.


At Ketchum, he was an account executive counseling clients such as Dow Chemical Co. and Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Mortgage banker joins Severn Savings

Severn Savings Bank announced the appointment of Brian P. Wood as director of business development. A Johns Hopkins graduate, he was an honors student and four-time All-American in lacrosse. He founded and headed Bay Funding Inc., a private lending mortgage company. Mr. Wood lives in Sherwood Forest.

Menkel and Wright join Whiteford, Taylor


Whiteford, Taylor & Preston admitted Melissa L. Menkel and Julie D. Wright to the Baltimore law firm as associates.

Ms. Menkel, previously with Steptoe & Johnson, is a law graduate of the University of Maryland and will practice in the labor and employee relations section of the Baltimore office.

Ms. Wright will practice in the firm's real estate and banking section in its Towson office. A University of Baltimore law graduate, she was a law clerk at the Court of Special Appeals.


Holt is named an associate at Gardiner tax counseling

The Gardiner Group, tax accountants and business counselors, has admitted Christopher Holt as an associate.


A budget, cost control and regulatory compliance expert, Mr. Holt holds an MBA in finance from Rutgers University and has more than 18 years of experience in finance, accounting and general management.


William Jews receives 'Good Scout' award

The Baltimore Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America has honored William L. Jews, president and chief executive officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Maryland, with its 1995 "Good Scout" Health Services Award.
