Store clerk, customer stop robbery attempt

A clerk and a customer at the Dollar Store in the Sun Valley Shopping Center thwarted a thief Tuesday, county police said yesterday.

The clerk, Marcia L. Valor, was working the register at the store shortly before 7:30 p.m. when a man reached into her open register drawer and grabbed a handful of money. Ms. Valor grabbed the man's hand and pulled the money back, police said.

The man tried again, but a customer, identified as Kenneth Treasure, grabbed the man and struggled with him. The man broke free and ran north on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, police said.

They described the suspect as black, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 35 years old with a medium complexion. He was cross-eyed, with short, receding hair, a thin mustache and slight acne. He was wearing a blue and red striped shirt, blue jeans and a black coat.
