A Baltimore man who police say led them on a high-speed chase on Route 140 Wednesday morning is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center in lieu of $15,000 bail.
According to police, a man was driving west on Route 140 about 11 a.m. Wednesday when an officer clocked him driving at 68.9 mph.
When the officer stepped into the road to pull him over, police said the man drove onto the shoulder but did not stop.
Police said the officer jumped into his car to follow the man, but lost him around Sandymount Road.
Another officer gave chase and clocked the man driving at speeds of more than 100 mph.
The man was blocked in near Spangler Road, but got out of his car and tried to run away.
Officers caught the man at Estey Pools and Spas on Route 140. Charges against Lamont Dew, 29, of the 5000 block of Clover Road in Baltimore include driving over the 55 mph speed limit, eluding police in a car and on foot, and driving on a suspended license.
Westminster man charged with having sex with minor
A Westminster man charged with having sex with a 14-year-old girl is being held in lieu of $150,000 bail in the Carroll County Detention Center.
According to court documents, the girl told police she willingly had intercourse with an older man twice in September and once last month at her Westminster home.
The girl, who is not being named to protect her privacy, was 13 when the relationship began, according to court records.
Robert Henry Mauler, 28, of the 900 block of Uniontown Road was charged Wednesday with two counts of second-degree sex offense and one charge of third-degree sex offense.
