Some Anne Arundel County oystermen are petitioning the incoming legislature to reopen oyster bars on the South, Rhode and West rivers that have been closed for two years. Officials in the oyster navy desire an additional ban of one year to allow the young growth to mature. -- The Sun, Dec. 4, 1895.
The annual ball of Independent Fire Co., No. 2 of Annapolis was held to raise funds for a new fire engine "like those in large cities" and to take the place of the reel now used for the hose. -- The Sun, Dec. 11, 1895.
