Ministerial Alliance in Brooklyn-Curtis Bay plans worship services for Thanksgiving


HAPPY Thanksgiving! Remember to take time this week to be thankful and count your many blessings.

The Ministerial Alliance in Brooklyn-Curtis Bay will sponsor a Thanksgiving Eve service at 7:30 p.m. at Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church, 110 Townsend Ave. Everyone is invited.

The alliance also will sponsor a community worship service at 10 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day at St. John Lutheran Church, 226 Washburn Ave. at Third Street.

The Rev. John Cooper, assistant pastor of the Brooklyn Church of the Nazarene, will preach; other clergy will participate. Everyone is asked to bring an offering of canned or boxed food for distribution to the needy in the community.

Improvement group to meet

The Olde Brooklyn Park Improvement Association will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow at Brooklyn Park Elementary School, 200 14th Ave.

Kathy Shatt from the county zoning enforcement department will discuss zoning problems and development concerns in the community.

Flu, pneumonia shots

The county Department of Health will offer flu and pneumonia shots at the Brooklyn Park Health Center between 9 a.m. and noon and 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. tomorrow.

Anyone 65 or older should consider getting the shots along with anyone suffering from chronic heart and lung disease, kidney disease, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, asthma or cancer.

A contribution of $5 is asked for each shot. Seniors should bring their medical cards.

Plan for bad weather needed

Parents of school children are reminded to have an alternative plan for their child in case of the need for a delayed opening or early closing of schools for inclement weather.
