Information on fatal crash sought 2-car collision killed Damascus woman, 70


Maryland State Police are looking for information about a fatal accident Nov. 10 near Route 27 and Mount Airy Drive.

The early-morning crash, in which 70-year-old Gladys Jane Marshall of Ridge Road in Damascus was killed, sent her husband to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center and another man to Carroll County General Hospital.

Mrs. Marshall's husband, 72-year-old Paul Edgar Marshall, was in serious but stable condition at the trauma center Friday. Michael Gregory Wroten, 24, of Akers Drive in Mount Airy was released from Carroll County General last week.

Police said the accident occurred at 6:40 a.m. when Mr. Wroten, driving a red and black 1979 Chevrolet Cheyenne, crossed over the center line and struck Mr. Marshall's car head-on.

L Mr. Marshall was driving a light blue 1989 Plymouth Horizon.

According to police reports, Mr. Wroten told officers someone pulled out in front of him as he was traveling south on Route 27. Mr. Wroten said that as he veered to the left to avoid that car, he collided with the Marshalls'.
