A Westminster man is being held by police on $25,000 bond, accused of assaulting a man by throwing him off the hood of his car, then stealing the $14,000 vehicle Oct. 31.
Johnathan Michael Wike, 19, of the 200 block of E. Main St. is charged with robbery, assault, battery and three counts of theft. He is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center.
Ray Cook told police that he was inside Fox's Pizza Den on Pennsylvania Avenue and heard the engine of his 1995 Plymouth Neon start. He said he saw two men in the vehicle, ran outside and pulled the passenger out of the car, but was knocked to the ground during a struggle.
The driver tried to run over Mr. Cook, who jumped on the vehicle's hood as it accelerated, according to court documents. The driver swerved the car and Mr. Cook was thrown to the ground, injuring his left arm and back, the documents said.
Mr. Cook was taken to Carroll County General Hospital and released after treatment.
Westminster: An official of New Life Addiction Counseling Center on East Main Street reported that someone tried to break into the office by prying the lock Wednesday. The attempt failed, and the amount of damage to the lock and door was unknown.
Westminster: Westminster and Reese were dispatched to a basement fire in the 100 block of Lincoln Road at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday. Units were out 15 minutes.
