Firefighters' portrait project will aid emergency equipment

Mount Airy Volunteer Fire Company is sponsoring a family portrait project to raise money to upgrade emergency equipment.

Diamond Portrait Studios will contact families in the Mount Airy response area beginning today. Tim Wilder of the studio will have a letter of authorization from the fire company signed by the president and fire chief.

Mr. Wilder will be the only solicitor for the campaign. Portraits will sell for $10, which entitles the buyer to one 11-by-14 color portrait of an individual or family.

Portraits will be done from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 2 at the firehouse, 702 N. Main St. Ticket holders will be notified of their appointment.

Winfield: Winfield responded to an auto fire on Buffalo Road in Frederick County at 5:32 a.m. Tuesday. Units were out one hour.
