Professor picked to lead Md. education group


An Anne Arundel Community College professor was recently elected to head the Maryland Association for Higher Education.

Rosemary Wolfe, an education professor, was voted as the association president during the organization's annual fall conference.

The Odenton resident has been a member of the faculty for 24 years. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree in education and earned her doctorate at the University of Maryland.

2 men arrested on drug charges

Police arrested two Arnold men on drug charges Friday after an officer found an air gun and several grams of marijuana in their car, county police said.

According to police, an officer stopped a 1976 Volvo on College Parkway near Cape Saint Claire Road shortly before 12:30 a.m. Friday because a headlight was out. When the officer stopped the car, he saw a gun sticking out from under the driver's seat, police said.

Police later discovered the gun was an air gun, but he ordered the driver and a passenger out of the car and searched it, police said. The officer found a fanny pack under the driver's seat of the car, and inside there was a plastic bag with 7.7 grams of what later tested positive for marijuana, and a brown box with more marijuana, a cigarette-shaped smoking pipe, a scale, and a wire, police said.

Police arrested Matthew Morgan Arlington, 18, of the 700 block of Holly Drive in Arnold, and Eric Alan Taylor, 18, of the 400 block of Elmwood Court in Arnold, and charged them with possession of of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
