Bowl picture: Northwestern (7-1, 5-0 in the Big Ten) will need help to get to the Rose Bowl, but the nation's most captivating team can solidify a nice holiday excursion by beating Penn State (6-2, 3-2). After the Rose, Big Ten teams will go to the Citrus (Orlando, Fla.), Outback (Tampa, Fla.), Alamo (San Antonio) and Sun (El Paso, Texas) bowls.
Get the point?: The oddsmakers continue to wait for the Wildcats to collapse. Northwestern was an underdog to Wisconsin, which it beat, 35-0. The Nittany Lions are favored by five.
Unknown no longer: Sophomore Darnell Autry, one of the busiest backs in the nation, was a last-minute starter when Northwestern lost 45-17 at Penn State last year. Filling in for the suspended Dennis Lundy, Autry gained 171 yards on 39 carries. Autry has reached 100 yards in every game this season, and if that string continues, he'll break the school single-season rushing record today. He has 1,291 yards on 255 carries.
