START YOUR holiday shopping in Ferndale! Two events Saturday offer a fun experience as well as convenience.
For the 13th consecutive year, the North County Knights Parent's Club kicks off the holiday season with its "Beary Christmas Bazaar" scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at North County High School, 10 E. First Ave.
More than 60 artisans with handmade and customized items are expected. Santa Claus will make his appearance at the bazaar and will be on hand for photographs. The cost is $3.
The Pom Squad will provide free day care for parents who would like to shop without the children.
Lunch will be sold during the bazaar. Cream of broccoli soup chicken salad croissants and hot dogs will be on the menu. A table of homemade baked goods should satisfy any sweet tooth.
Profits from the bazaar support Parent's Club projects such as the six scholarships awarded each May. For more information, call 222-6970.
Gifts, decorations and food await you at "Holiday Treasures," scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ferndale United Methodist Church, 117 Ferndale Road at Hollins Ferry Road.
Handmade dolls, baskets, fabric-covered picture frames, wreaths, flower arrangements, and festive door and wall hangings will be on sale. Counted cross stitch, embroidered items and smocked ornaments also will be available.
Skip baking this year and buy your holiday goodies at the fair. They will have a variety of homemade baked items, jellies, jams, peanut brittle, hard candy and fudge.

Joan Krammes will discuss putting a herb garden to bed for the winter at the next meeting of the Friendly Thyme Herb Club, scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at the Ferndale-Linthicum Senior Center, 7205 Baltimore & Annapolis Blvd.
June Barton, program chairman, said members are asked to bring decorations or other items they have made with herbs from their gardens for "a kind of show and tell."

The Notables and the Patapsco Valley American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 3850 will entertain at a Halloween Party tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the Hammonds Lane Nursing Home.
Junior and senior high United Methodist Youth Fellowship is sponsoring an apple pie bake. Orders will be taken until Sunday for the homemade pies. The delicious desserts can be picked up Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to noon and Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $5 per pie, $14 for three pies. To order, call 859-0990.
