Many prizes won in Westminster Halloween ritual


The annual Westminster Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Westminster Post of the American Legion, was held Tuesday night.

Prizes ranging from $10 to $50 were awarded by the American Legion. Winners who have not claimed their prize money can call the Westminster American Legion at 857-7953.

The winners, judged by the Junior Woman's Club of Westminster, were:

Cutest child: first place, a birthday present, Ali Globus; second place, Tin Man robot, Joe Senseney.

Most Comical Individual: first place, birthday cake, Jordan Neville; second place, Barbie, Amanda Gonder.

Most Comical Group: first place, three hot dogs, Kerr and Kelly Mills and Samson; second place, scarecrow with crows, Ashley, Leeann and Britney Brothers and Casey Mann.

Most Symbolic Individual: first place, unclaimed; second place, mummy, Joseph Walsh.

Group, Most Symbolic: first place, witches' brew, Jonathan and Lauren Lusby; second place, Indian, Ashley Jentilet.

Cutest Children's Group: first place, toy, Todd Tackett; second place, tortoise and hare, George and Ray Neville.

Most Original Individual: first place, Pepsi, Nick Balassone; second place, ostrich, Mariah Neville.

Most Original Group: first place, Beauty and the Beast, Ryan Albertini and Alexa Bratisch; second place, Tank and Jeep, Abby and Aaron Hooper.

Most Gruesome Individual: first place, Wolf Pack, Joey, Dusty, Ricky and Mikey Stickles.

Most Elaborate Individual: first place, car with vampire, Drew Tevis and vampire, William Keller; second place, popcorn, Chelsea Efland.

Best group, five to 10 people: wagon train, Witte and Stair families.

Best group, 11 to 15 people: kisses, Brownie Troop 1181.

L Best Group, more than 15 people: Goldstar, majorettes/drums.

Honorable mention: Tinkerbell, Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Justin, Joshua and Jessica Lerche; train and engineer, Jamie Short; pumpkin heads, Junior Girl Scout Troop 296.

Best floats: Cub Pack 381, Brownie Troop 132 and Kiwanis.
