A roundup of new products and services
See Spot. See Spot make a mess. To help you keep pet food from getting all over your floor, O. R. E. has designed place mats especially for your dog or cat. The mats, made out of recycled rubber, are available in several designs and colors, including Meow!, Woof! and a pattern of bones and doghouses. They are sold at Nouveau Contemporary Goods on North Charles Street, (410) 962-8248; Pet Perks in Washington, (202) 363-0092; and Urban Outfitters locations.
Flavors to Savor
If you're going to serve pet food on a place mat, you might as well make it worth serving. The NWP Division of T&K; Pet Products is selling boxed sets of pet-food flavoring that it hopes your little creatures just can't resist. For cats, there's an 8.8.-ounce bottle each of turkey with cranberry and rack of lamb, plus a play toy. Dogs get 13.4-ounce bottles each of roast turkey and rack of lamb flavors, plus a rawhide chew bone. The flavorings, called Toppers, are designed to be mixed with dry or canned food. Gift packs are available for $12.95 and $14.95, plus shipping. Call (800) 973-6444.
Bed for Bowser
If you really want to pamper your pet, get him or her a handcrafted bed from Beastly Beds. Three styles are available. The Regency bed, which sells for $395, is a solid mahogany four-poster with gold finials and a green velvet cushion. The Cottage Bed, a four-poster made of poplar, painted off-white and waxed to look old, comes with a blue-and-white checked cushion. It sells for $325. The Provence ($225) is handmade of carbon-lacquered wrought iron and has a signature cross-back frame. A corduroy cushion completes the country look. For a catalog or to order, call (518) 398-6617.
