Early scores spark 3-1 win for Centennial


Michelle Clare and Lauren Molinaro each scored first-half goals to power visiting No. 6 Centennial (9-3-1) past Mount Hebron, 3-1, in a Class 3A-4A West first-round playoff game.

* Carver-A&T; 2, West. Tech 1 (2OT): Toni Alberta converted a penalty kick in the second overtime to lift the Wildcats (4-4-1) over the visiting Cobras in a Class 1A-2A North first-round contest.

* FSK 2, Walkersville 1: Jamie Giove scored five minutes into overtime to lift host Francis Scott Key (4-9) over Walkersville in jjTC 1A-2A West Region opener.

Sindi Stem sent the game into overtime with 12 minutes left in regulation.

* Hammond 2, Glenelg 1: Lindsay Mitchell stopped a shot by Rebecca Spates, enabling visiting Hammond (3-10) to beat Glenelg by a 8-7 margin in a shootout in a Class 2A South regional playoff game. Michelle Jenkins had the decisive goal in the shootout.

* Lansdowne 2, Pikesville 0: Tina Harris scored the game-winner 15 minutes into the second half to lead host Lansdowne (7-3-1) past Pikesville in Class 1A-2A North playoff action.

* Liberty 5, Frederick 0: Shanna Ziegenfuss scored twice and added an assist as visiting Liberty (9-4) powered past Frederick in the opening round of Class 3A-4A West playoffs.

* Loch Raven 1, Catonsville 0: Susan Giannaccini scored the game-winner in the second half as No. 8 Loch Raven (11-2-1) edged Catonsville in a 1A-2A North playoff game. Bridget Harthausen assisted on the score.

* North County 4, Chopticon 1: North County (1-12) won its first game of the season behind senior forward Tracy Mrazeck's three second-half goals in a Class 3A-4A East Region playoff game.

* North Harford 3, Edgewood 0 Suzanne Eyler scored two goals and No. 15 North Harford (8-3-1) held Edgewood without a shot in a 1A-2A East first-round game.

* Oakland Mills 9, City 0 Jenny Dye had two goals and an assist as Oakland Mills (4-6-2) defeated City in a first-round 1A-2A South Region game.

* Owings Mills 8, Chesapeake-BC 2: Andy Graham had two goals and two assists and Sasha Bloch contributed two goals, leading Owings Mills (10-2-1) past visiting Chesapeake-BC in a Class 1A-2A North regional playoff game.
