Hargrove said that second baseman Carlos Baerga, hampered by a sprained ankle, is playing at 75-80 percent. . . . Before Game 5, Hargrove was asked if he would rather be facing a different kind of pitcher than a power pitcher like Greg Maddux. "I think," Hargrove said, smiling slightly, "we would rather be facing any other than pitcher than Maddux." . . . Braves manager Bobby Cox said that hometown fans "don't get mad at you if you don't win the World Series the first time you go. You have a big parade, they tell you that you did OK. The next year, if you go and don't win, they boo." . . . Both Hargrove and Cox said if it were up to them, the first round of the playoffs would be a best-of-seven, rather than best-of-five. . . . Atlanta center fielder Marquis Grissom grew up in a household of 15 kids. "There's a lot of love," he said, "a lot of unity and a lot of helping out each other." . . . Pre-game batting practice was washed out by an early evening rainstorm that swept over Cleveland.
