Shoplifting arrest made at Caldor in Ferndale


Police arrested a Baltimore woman Wednesday and charged her with shoplifting $113 worth of merchandise from the Caldor store in Ferndale.

A woman walked into the store, in the 7300 block of Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., shortly before 7:30 p.m., picked up several pairs of boxer shorts and walked out of the store without paying for them, police said.

A store security guard caught the woman and held her until police arrived.

Shykeia McMilliam, 28, of the 700 block of Mulberry St. in Baltimore was arrested and charged with theft.

Air compressor stolen from Linthicum Mack Truck

An air compressor was stolen from Mack Truck Wednesday, county police said.

Employee James Hock told police a man walked into the store in the 600 block of Nursery Road in Linthicum about 2 p.m. Wednesday and asked him for a number of items, including an air compressor.

Police said Mr. Hock put the compressor, worth $700, on the store counter and went to look for other items the man had asked about. When he returned, the man and the air compressor were gone.

Halloween celebrations are planned locally

Numerous events will be held tomorrow to celebrate Halloween and autumn.

* The Linthicum Fair, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. across from St. John Lutheran Church, 300 W. Maple Road, will feature a parade at 10:30 a.m. from old Andover High School. Participants are asked be at the school by 10 a.m.

Everyone attending is asked to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to a food drive.

* The United Methodist Women of Brooklyn Heights United Methodist Church will sponsor an Autumn Fest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 110 Townsend Ave.

* St. Philip Neri's Fall Flea Market will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the church, 6405 Orchard Road.
