More Outback

Look for two more of the popular Aussie-style Outback Steakhouses to open up in the area. According to developer David Cordish, we'll see one in the Tollgate Mall in Bel Air by February and another in his Ocean City Factory Outlet Center in March, just in time for the beach season.

At Cross Keys

Cafe Drubay, the charming French cafe in the Village of Cross Keys, has lost its lease and will close its doors Nov. 6. Owners Alexa and Philippe Drubay aren't sure when or where they will be reopening, but it won't be until at least spring.

Meanwhile, the Village Roost, the coffee shop in the Cross Keys Inn across the square, is starting extensive renovations.

Chic bread pudding

Who would have thought that old-fashioned bread pudding would become such a chic dessert? But now you can get it with whiskey sauce at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, a deliciously homey version at the Prime Rib, chocolate bread pudding at Linwood's, cinnamon toast bread pudding at Louie's Bookstore Cafe and bread pudding with sweet cream at Donna's. For a truly hip experience, try bread pudding at two in the morning at the open-all-night PaperMoon.

Jose's new look

No Way Jose in Federal Hill is getting a face lift. When Howard and Natalie Killian bought the Southwestern cafe last month they decided to keep the staff and the menu but freshen up the dining room and bar. That includes new carpeting, fresh paint and, for the first time, tablecloths.
