Woman, 18, held in string of burglaries

An 18-year-old Randallstown woman is the latest person arrested in connection with recent burglaries in Carroll County.

Police said that in three burglaries in June, in Westminster, Finksburg and Eldersburg, jewelry, cash and guns valued at $15,835 and a Corvette worth $8,000 were stolen. Some of the jewelry was recovered by investigators.

State police said a woman told them she had pawned jewelry in Baltimore and Ocean City and that she rented a hand cart that was used in stealing a safe.

A hand cart, rented from Ben's Rental in Westminster, was recovered in a field at the rear of a house where a safe was stolen, according to court records.

Kelley Marie Johnsen of the 3300 block of Offutt Road was being held yesterday $25,000 bail.

Officers said several men, at least one of whom is a friend of Ms. Johnsen, have been arrested and charged with daytime burglaries in the county. Police believe some of the money was used to purchase drugs.
