Farm Museum gets grant for fire prevention system

The Carroll County Farm Museum has been awarded an assistance grant through the Maryland Historical Trust for a fire prevention system for museum buildings.

Carroll County provided matching funds for the project, which will protect the museum's 10,000 artifacts. Westminster Security will install the system at the end of this month.

Many of the museum's larger pieces, such as carriages and buggies, are housed in wooden out-buildings on the grounds at 500 S. Center St., Westminster.

The Farm Museum is the first of its kind in Maryland. It opened in 1966 and holds events that draw thousands of visitors.
