Kim Schroll's goal with 8:42 left in sudden-death overtime gave No. 1 North Carolina a 2-1 win over Maryland yesterday in an Atlantic Coast Conference game in Chapel Hill, N.C.
North Carolina (14-0, 6-0) defeated the Terps (11-3, 3-2) earlier in the season, 2-1, in double overtime in College Park. UNC has a 32-game unbeaten streak and a 19-game winning streak at home.
Nancy Pelligreen scored off an assist from Kate Barber with 11:34 left for a 1-0 Tar Heels edge. The Terps' Nadine Bennett scored unassisted with 4:16 left to force overtime.
* Western Maryland 2, Frostburg State 0: Katie Haley scored two first-half goals to lift Western Maryland (7-3) over Frostburg State (3-10) for a school-record sixth straight win.
Jaime Moyer (South Carroll) made 15 saves to record her fourth shutout in the past five games.
Haley's first unassisted goal came with 30 minutes left in the period, and the second with just 30 seconds remaining before halftime. The sophomore forward leads the team in goals with seven and has had a hand in 10 of Western Maryland's 19 scores.
