Library trustees to discuss branch expansion

The Harford County Board of Library Trustees will conduct a public information meeting to present plans for the Bel Air branch renovation and expansion at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Bel Air branch, 100 Pennsylvania Ave.

Architect Gary Getz of Getz, Taylor and Koster will discuss design development plans for the Bel Air branch project and present a progress report on the library building program.

Included in the plans for the new library are a drive-up window, computer training room, story-hour area for children, a Maryland Room and an audiovisual room, complete with listening and viewing areas.

The Bel Air branch, which was built in 1960, was expanded in 1967 and has remained unchanged since, despite the area's population growth from 12,000 to 75,000.

Groundbreaking for the $7.2 million renovation and expansioproject is scheduled for April, and completion is expected in

spring 1998.

Mill Green Road to close Oct. 23

Mill Green Road from Maryland Route 646 to Macton Road will close Oct. 23 for approximately five months for installation of a replacement bridge over a tributary to Broad Creek.

Motorists should find alternate routes around the work area.
