Francis L. Smith, 79, the diocesan bishop of Ohio for the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, died of a heart attack in Akron, Ohio, on Tuesday. He was pastor of the First Apostolic Faith Church in Akron from 1951 to 1992, when he retired with the title pastor emeritus. He was chairman of the Ohio District Council before being elevated to bishop in 1972.

Genora Johnson Dollinger, 82, who rallied support for the hard-fought strike that launched the United Auto Workers union at General Motors Corp. in 1937, died of an undisclosed cause Wednesday in Los Angeles. She was 23 years old when she organized the Women's Auxiliary of the UAW and the Women's Emergency Brigade to feed and shield 2,000 strikers occupying a key Fisher Body Division plant in Flint, Mich. The strike began on Christmas Eve 1936 and ended 44 days later with recognition of the union as bargaining agent for its work force.

Jack D. Weiler, 91, a rabbi's son who left his imprint on the landscape through real estate development and on mankind through philanthropy, died Friday at his home in New Rochelle, N.Y. He was a founder and the chairman emeritus of Swig, Weiler & Arnow, a Manhattan real estate development and management company.
