Baltimore Stallions rookie Chris Wright has been named the Canadian Football League's Offensive Player of the Week after piling up 253 return yards in last week's 29-27 victory over Saskatchewan.
Wright returned a punt 89 yards for a touchdown in the first half, then set up a second-half field goal by returning a missed Saskatchewan field goal for a franchise-record 100 yards.
Wright, who has amassed 2,026 return yards, needs 177 return yards over his last two games to break the single-season CFL record of 2,202 set by Edmonton Eskimos star Gizmo Williams.
A favorite for CFL Rookie of the Year honors, Wright is third in the league with 2,161 all-purpose yards.
Running back Mike Pringle, who rushed for 179 yards against Saskatchewan, was a runner-up in the Offensive Player of the Week award voting.
