Two arrested after chase on Route 27

Two Baltimore men have been charged with stealing four microwave ovens from Wal-Mart and leading police on a seven-mile high-speed chase Wednesday afternoon.

Henry Allen Frierson, 46, of the 1000 block of Kevin Road was released on $25,500 bond on burglary, theft, assault and battery charges, according to District Court records. He also will face traffic charges.

Wesley T. Kelly, 32, of the 300 block of Mount Holly St. was held at the Carroll County Detention Center on $125,000 bond on burglary and theft charges.

Police said two men were seen in the rear of the Westminster Wal-Mart store loading microwave boxes into a car.

Officer Charles Shifflett of the Westminster Police Department saw the vehicle drive off the lot and began a pursuit north on Route 27. The fleeing Ford Probe crossed the center line of Route 27 in an attempt to elude police and struck a car heading south on the highway, authorities said.

Officer Shifflett alerted other police agencies, and state police 00 and members of the Carroll County Sheriff's Department joined the chase.

Officers blocked Gorsuch Road near Coon Club Road and arrested two men.

Westminster: A Silver Spring resident reported that someone shot out the rear window of his vehicle while it was parked on Pennsylvania Avenue on Wednesday. He estimated the damage $300.
