Renovated WMC hall to be dedicated tomorrow
The formal dedication of Western Maryland College's renovated Memorial Hall, which includes an address by Gov. Parris N. Glendening, will be at 4 p.m. tomorrow in Baker Memorial Chapel.
Formerly called Science Hall, the building was designed by Baltimore architect Charles Anderson and first occupied in 1929. It was renamed Memorial Hall in 1958.
The remodeling is being financed by private donations, loans from the federal government and part of a $1.9 million grant from the state.
The general contractor is LeRoy Kirby and Sons of Baltimore; the architect is Centerbrook Architects of Essex, Conn.
National counties group reappoints Dell to panel
The National Association of Counties has reappointed Carroll County Commissioner Donald I. Dell to its Agriculture and Rural Affairs Steering Committee.
The committee's focus includes farm legislation affecting the economies of agricultural counties.
