Homeowner meets robber, escapes injury

THE BALTIMORE SUN

An Ellicott City man escaped injury when he confronted a robber with a knife in his bedroom Monday afternoon, Howard County police said.

John Hecht, of the 3600 block of Morning View Court, had just gone back into his home about 3:50 p.m. after mowing grass and found a man inside, police said.

The man -- who apparently had entered through an unlocked rear door -- flashed his weapon, ordered Mr. Hecht out of his way and ran from the home, taking an undetermined amount of cash, police said.

The robber was described as a white male, about 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, wearing a baseball cap.

Money from the fund-raiser, which ends Friday, will be used for school and PTA activities.
