Goucher women top Hopkins in soccer, 3-1


Sophomore forward Sarah Weaver (Towson) scored twice to lead host Goucher (7-4) past Johns Hopkins (4-5-1) 3-1 in women's college soccer yesterday.

Weaver opened the scoring in the 17th minute, and sophomore forward Nicole Walker (Towson) gave the Gophers a 2-0 lead in the 26th minute. Nicole Creedman scored the Blue Jays goal, at the 37th minute. Weaver added a goal with 15 seconds left.

Freshman goalies Marie Bober and Lauren Pozsonyi made 13 and five saves for Johns Hopkins and Goucher respectively.

* Mount St. Mary's 0, Georgetown 0: Mount St. Mary's and host Georgetown tied at Harbin Field.

L It was the first tie in the history of Mount women's soccer.

The Hoyas (4-5-1) outshot the Mount in the first half, 8-2.

Mountaineers' Tonia Bruno made eight, while Hoyas Abby George recorded three saves. Georgetown had a 22-11 shooting advantage.


* Ursinus 1, Washington College 0: Kurt Bonewitz ended Washington College's three-game win streak when he scored with 58 seconds left in the first half in Centennial Conference action.

Travis Beauchamp made five saves for Washington College (6-4-1), four more than Ursinus' Scott King.
