Friends of Boy Scout Troop 871 in Jessup will hold their fifth annual Apple Butter and Craft Fair, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 14 at St. Lawrence Parish Center, Route 175 in Jessup. Crafts, homemade apple butter and much more will be available. Space reservations are $10.

The Chesapeake Plantation Walking Horse Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. tonight, at Odenton Elementary School.
The meeting will feature a bitting and saddle expert who will show and talk about different kinds of bits and how they can be used. She also will share tips on how to properly fit the saddle to the horse.

* The club's monthly trail ride will be at Gettysburg Battlefield on Oct. 7. The ride will leave the Artillery Ridge Campground and National Riding Stables next to the Battlefield Park at 11 a.m.
Many club members are making camping and stabling arrangements for the weekend, so there will be a second ride Sunday morning before heading home.
