Playing the baroque (or valveless) trumpet in works such as Bach's vertiginous Brandenburg Concerto No. 2 is, in trumpeter John Thiessen's words, "somewhat like [climbing] Mount Everest." Thiessen, one of the best-known practitioners of the art of the baroque trumpet, joins Pro Musica Rara Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Baltimore Museum of Art for a performance of the popular Brandenburg No. 2. The musicians of PMR will also perform Bach's Concerto for Two Violins and music of Vivaldi and Telemann.
The Baltimore Museum of Art, Art Museum Drive at North Charles and 31st streets. Tickets are $15 ($12 for BMA members and seniors and $6 for full-time students). For information and reservations, call (410) 433-0041.
