Bears rough up the Bandits in exhibition, 6-1

THE BALTIMORE SUN

HERSHEY, Pa. -- The Baltimore Bandits made their debut last night, but the outcome probably wasn't what they had in mind.

Mitch Lamoureux, 33, formerly of the Baltimore Skipjacks, showed there's still some pep in the old bones after leading the Hershey Bears to a 6-1 exhibition victory over the Bandits.

After the Bandits had played a solid first 10 minutes, actually dictating play, Hershey took over. Lamoureux assisted on the game's first goal, then scored the second. Hershey led 4-0 after two periods.

But Bandits coach Walt Kyle insisted, "We got what we wanted out of this. This was an evaluation game. We played 10 people who won't even be here."

Pete Leboutillier scored short-handed to account for Baltimore's only goal.

Paul Healey, who played in the Western Hockey League last year, had a hat trick for Hershey.

The Bandits will host Hershey at the Baltimore Arena on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
