An Edgewater gas station was robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash early yesterday morning, county police said.
The robber entered the Texaco station at Route 2 and Mayo Road about midnight, grabbed a female customer around the neck, put an unidentified object against her side and ordered the cashier to hand him money, police said. The man then took the attendant and his keys to his Ford Mustang and tried to steal the car.
The attendant and the robber scuffled, and the robber drove down Mayo Road with another person in a silver Chevrolet Celebrity station wagon.
An officer gave chase, but the robber ran into the woods, and the other person in the station wagon also escaped.
The robber was described as a 20-year-old white man, 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue hooded sweat shirt and sweat pants.
