Businesses from Carroll County and the Baltimore area will focus their sales pitches on other companies Wednesday at the sixth annual Business to Business Expo.
The show, sponsored by the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce, is an opportunity for customers to "put a name with a face," said Edward M. Miller, chairman of the chamber's Business Fairs Committee.
Sixty-five companies that sell products or services to other businesses have reserved booths at the event, to be held from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Wilhelm Ltd. Caterers on Route 140 in Westminster.
Exhibitors include companies that sell copiers, insurance and mobile phones, and others that offer graphic arts, banking and computer services, said Helen Utz, the chamber's executive director. About one-quarter of the exhibitors are from outside Carroll, she said.
Exhibit space costs between $300 and $450.
About 500 people attended the show last year, and organizers expect the same number this year, she said.
The only major change this year is the parking arrangements, said Mr. Miller, a commercial loan officer at Carroll County Bank and Trust Co. Exhibitors will park in lots at nearby shopping centers to leave more spaces for visitors. The change will make the show more accessible to the public, he said.
The expo will begin with a free continental breakfast at 8 a.m. Box lunches will be available from noon to 2 p.m. for $8; reservations are needed by Monday, Mrs. Utz said. A wine and cheese party is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day, Mrs. Utz said. The grand prize, donated by A-Plus Travel Inc. in Westminster, is a four-day trip to Orlando, Fla., including airfare, accommodations and Disney World passes.
The Business to Business Expo is one of two shows sponsored annually by the chamber. In the spring, the group sponsors a Business Fair at Cranberry Mall that focuses on retail businesses and is geared to the general public.
