Police charge Baltimore man in armed robbery of 7-Eleven

County police arrested a Baltimore man Monday in the robbery of a 7-Eleven convenience store in the 4000 block of Ritchie High- way.

Police said a man walked into the store about 3:45 a.m. Monday, pushed the clerk to the ground, threatened to kill him with a knife and ordered the clerk to reveal how to open the cash register. When the clerk complied, the man opened it, took an undisclosed amount of money and ran.

Police later found a man fitting the robber's description across the street from the store, and the clerk identified the suspect as the robber.

Alvin Eugene Harris, 29, of the 1800 block of St. Paul St. was charged with armed robbery.

Suspect charged with disorderly conduct

County police arrested a Brooklyn Park man on disorderly conduct charges Monday after he allegedly used a woman's yard for a bathroom.

According to police, an officer was called to the 200 block of Orchard Ave. twice, once about 5 p.m. and again a half-hour later, because a man was being disorderly.

When the officer arrived the first time, he told the man to leave the neighborhood.

The second time, the resident told the officer that the man had urinated and defecated near her fence and that he had been using vulgar language.

The officer arrested Raymond Andrew McCarter, 30, of the unit block of Ballman Court and charged him with disorderly conduct.

14 marijuana plants confiscated from field

Forty-seven pounds of marijuana plants were taken from a field near Route 10 at Interstate 695 Saturday, county police said.

Police found the plants last week on property owned by the state Department of Transportation. They set up a weeklong surveillance but never saw anyone come to tend the plants, police said.

Officers uprooted 14 plants, ranging in height from 3 1/2 feet to 5 1/2 feet.

The plants had a street value of $25,000, police said.
