Back-to-school immunization clinic scheduled


The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has scheduled its last back-to-school immuniization clinic as part of its effort to get all county children immunized. At least 8,500 Baltimore students were barred from their schools last week because they did not have the necessary immunizations. Don't let this happen to your child.

The health department's clinic is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Odenton Health Center, 1370 Odenton Road. No fee is charged for immunizations, but donations up to $5 are appreciated.

The Odenton Kiwanis Club will hold a roadblock from 9 a.m. to 3 Saturday at the intersection of Routes 170 and 175. Club members will be collecting donations for the March of Dimes, a Young Children Priority Program.


"Spiritually Fit; Physically Fit," is the theme of this month's Women's Aglow meeting. The group meets at 7 p.m. Monday at the Jessup Community Center, Route 175 at Wigley Road.

Marguerita Younger ministers to women who are hurting emotionally. Alicia White will show how to keep in shape physically. Wear your sweats and come ready to jump into fitness. The program will cost $2.50. Snacks will be served.

The Knights of Columbus, Archbishop Francis P. Keough Council in Odenton will start holding monthly breakfasts in October. Come and enjoy a home-cooked breakfast from 8 a.m to noon on the first Sunday of the month. The menu consists of orange juice, coffee, eggs any style, toast, pancakes, ham, sausage, and gravy on biscuits. The cost is $3.50 for adults, $2.50 for children ages 6 to 12.

Bingo returns the second and fourth Sundays of each month. Doors will open at 1 p.m. Early bird games are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Regular games are scheduled for 2 p.m.

The games will be held in the council home on Becknel Avenue in Odenton.


The Christian German Women's Group met yesterday at noon in the blue room of the chapel center on Rockenbach Avenue at Fort Meade. Membership is open to German women and any woman in the area who would like to polish her German. You must be at least age 18.

The group enjoys Christian and Helmat music, German foods and much more. Meetings are the second Monday of every month.

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a golf tournament Monday at the Walden Golf Club, 1500 Riedel Road in Crofton. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The putting contest is at 8:45 a.m. The shotgun start will be at 9:30 a.m.

The format is scramble, and the cost per person is $85. The ticket includes golf, beverages, lunch and giveaways. Lunch only costs $12.

The meal will be served at 2 p.m.

Corporate sponsors for the event are Nationwide Insurance and Leo's Vacation Center. Catering will be done by Puttin' On The Ritz. Hole and Hazard sponsorships are still available. Reservations can be made by calling the chamber at (410) 672-3422.
