Heritage society plans crab feast in Odenton


The Odenton Heritage Society will hold a "Crab Feast" fund-raiser from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 17 at Jim's Hideaway in Odenton. The menu will consist of steamed crabs, crab soup, chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes, salad bar and dessert. There will be door prizes and live entertainment. The cost is $25 per person.

The Ladies' Auxiliary of Archbishop Keough Council, Knights of Columbus, will sponsor its annual Flea Market at 8 a.m. Saturday in the council home on Becknel Avenue. Come and browse. Donations of discarded items are requested. Pickup can be arranged for any large item.

Faith Community Church will hold its 17th anniversary celebration at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the church, 1306 Waugh Chapel Road in Gambrills. Brent Hardesty, composer, pianist, vocalist and worship leader from Grace Fellowship Church in Timonium, will be the guest for the evening. Everyone is asked to bring snacks for fellowship after the service.


The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor a seminar titled "How to Conduct More Effective Meetings." The seminar will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Sept. 13 in Room 103 of the Arundel Center North, 101 Crain Highway. The meeting will focus on parliamentary procedure.

This is your last chance to buy tickets from the Greater Crofton Chamber of Commerce's raffle to benefit the 1996 College Scholarship Award. The raffle has three prize packages. One package consists of a mobile telephone, free activation and free monthly access fee for one year, valued at $484. The prize is courtesy of Economy Communications.

The second prize is a $250 shopping spree, courtesy of Metro Food Market of Crofton. The third prize is accommodation for two days and one night at the Stouffer Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore, plus dinner for two at the hotel's Window's restaurant. Raffle tickets are available at the chamber office and will be sold at the chamber's golf tournament, which is being held at Walden Golf Club, 1500 Reidel Road in Crofton. The O'Malley Senior Center will sponsor a program on prostrate cancer from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 12 at the center, 1275 Odenton Road in Odenton. Dr. Edward M. Zagula, an urologist affiliated with North Arundel Hospital, will explain the symptoms that may indicate a problem and available screening tests and treatment options. All senior citizens are encouraged to attend.
