Manchester man injured after truck hits pole

A Manchester man was in fair condition at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore yesterday after the pickup truck he was driving left a road in Carroll County and struck a utility pole, state police in Westminster said.

Police said Monty Wardenfelt, 41, of the 3200 block of York St. was traveling west in his pickup on Miller's Station Road near Young Road about 3 a.m. yesterday when the truck left the road and struck a curb and a utility pole.

Mr. Wardenfelt, the truck's only occupant, was flown to the trauma center by a state police helicopter. Police said they were still investigating the crash yesterday to determine how it happened.

* Hampstead: Firefighters from Hampstead and Arcadia were dispatched to investigate a fire alarm at a house on Crystal Court at 12:07 p.m. Wednesday. Units were out 15 minutes.
