Man dies from injuries in truck crash


A 30-year-old Gamber area man has died from injuries suffered when his truck overturned off Nicodemus Road on Saturday night.

Daniel R. O'Brien of the 1300 block of High Ridge Road was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after suffering neck injuries in the 8:56 p.m. crash, state police said. He died at 1 p.m. Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said yesterday.

Investigators said Mr. O'Brien was driving a 1992 Ford pickup truck south on Nicodemus Road near Old Washington Road when the truck went into a skid, crossed the center line, struck a mailbox, overturned and struck two trees.

Alcohol and speed contributed to the crash, state police said.


* Westminster: An official of Kirby's Furniture store on East Green Street reported that someone broke into one of the company trucks, which was parked on the store's lot, and stole property worth $550 on Monday.

A Taneytown resident told city police that someone broke into her car and stole property while the car was parked in the first block of E. Main St. on Sunday. The property was estimated to be worth $80.


* Westminster: Engines from Westminster and Reese were dispatched to investigate a fire alarm sounding in a building in the 1200 block of Washington Road at 5:01 p.m. Monday. Crews were out for 24 minutes.
