Five former winners, including defender Bob Kaestner, will be in the field when the 4lst annual men's Baltimore City Amateur championship is conducted Saturday and Sunday over the West Course at Baltimore Country Club.
Other past titleholders joining Kaestner in the 42-man field will be Henry Blue, Bob Lang, Sheldon Kalish, and David Nocar. The West Course, reworked by Tom Kite and Bob Cupp in 1990, will play at 6,850 yards to a par of 72.

* Nine Maryland entries are listed for Tuesday's sectional qualifying round of the 95th U.S. Women's Amateur at Columbia CC in Chevy Chase. Twenty-six players will be seeking seven places in the Aug. 7-12 tournament at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass.

* The major portion of the 59th annual Jimmy Flattery Memorial Junior tournament will be held Tuesday-Friday at Hunt Valley Golf Club. Some 150 boys and eight girls will vie for places in a match-play draw for each of three divisions.

Brad Friedlander, 13, of Pikesville and the Suburban Club, won the Boys 13-under title in the annual Bobby Gorin Memorial Junior tournament at Woodmont CC last week. Friedlander, who will be a Pikesville High School freshman in the fall, won the first two holes and went on to defeat Kevin O'Connell, 2 and 1, in the final.
Friedlander had previously won his age group (11-13) with an 84 in the section of the Middle Atlantic PGA Pro-Junior held at Rocky Point GC earlier this month.
