July 20, 1995 -- Five people, including four children, were killed when a car careened into a bus stop in Woodlawn, spreading bodies over 100 yards near the Social Security Administration building.
Oct. 1, 1994 -- Three women were killed in a collision when, according to state police, an 84-year-old woman drove her speeding car into the oncoming lane on Liberty Road near the Beltway.
July 20, 1994 -- Three people died when the car they were in was struck by a flatbed tractor-trailer at Route 408 and Sands Road near Wayson's Corner in southwestern Anne Arundel County.
Feb. 19, 1994 -- Four people were killed in a three-car collision in southern Anne Arundel County. Police said alcohol was a "major contributing factor" when a station wagon crossed the center line on Solomons Island Road and hit a pickup truck head-on.
June 6, 1993 -- Three teen-agers were were killed and five others injured when a stolen car, driven at speeds of up to 110 mph by an unlicensed driver, crashed near a bridge over Liberty Reservoir in Carroll County.
Dec. 12, 1992 -- Three people were killed in the southern Anne Arundel County community of Edgewater when a Jeep struck a pedestrian and spun out of control into two oncoming cars.
May 29, 1992 -- Three members of a Carroll County family -- including children ages 1 and 6 -- were killed when their car left Quaker Hill Road and struck a tree.
April 18, 1989 -- Four people were killed and seven injured on Interstate 83 in Hunt Valley when a tractor-trailer crossed a median strip and caused a chain-reaction accident. Police said the driver of the truck was on probation for drunken driving and had been drinking before the crash.
March 10, 1983 -- Two state troopers were killed when a tractor-trailer crossed four lanes on Interstate 95 in Harford County and hit their parked patrol car. The driver of the truck was charged with drunken driving in what investigators called the worst accident involving state police in their 52-year history.
April 23, 1979 -- Ten teen-agers riding in a pickup truck were killed in Odenton when the truck hit three trees on Patuxent River Road. The driver admitted during a trial that he had drunk alcohol and smoked marijuana before the accident. He was convicted of 10 counts of auto manslaughter.
May 4, 1972 -- Five people were killed and 36 injured when a Greyhound bus skidded off a rain-slick road in Prince George's County.
