A 10-year-old boy was accused of setting a fire in a Uniontown garage yesterday afternoon, the state fire marshal's office said.
According to the fire marshal, a fire broke out inside a wood frame and concrete block garage in the 3400 block of Uniontown Road shortly after 12:30 p.m. yesterday. The structure was not damaged, but $1,000 worth of contents was destroyed, fire officials said.
The boy, who was not identified, lives in a nearby apartment building. He was charged with setting the fire, and was released to his parents.
More than 40 firefighters from companies from Union Bridge, New Windsor, Taneytown and Westminster took about 10 minutes to bring the blaze under control, officials said.
One of the New Windsor units was at the scene for nearly two hours, making sure the fire had not spread into other areas of the building.
