Shows restart 'Exposure' winds down

Cable channels offer the debut of a new show and a pair of season premieres, while fresh material is still turning up on the lame-duck CBS series "Christy" and "Northern Exposure" and the summer replacement NBC show, "High Sierra Search and Rescue."

* "Christy" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- Christy (Kellie Martin) has an opportunity to try out motherhood by adopting an infant one of her students finds abandoned in the woods. But what about a father? She may reconsider the marriage proposal from David (Randall Batinkoff). CBS.

* "High Sierra Search and Rescue" (8 p.m.-9 p.m., WBAL, Channel 11) -- In the first of a two-part episode, Tooter (Robert Conrad) and crew get involved in a rescue that doesn't involve the dangers of the wilderness, as a woman (Christine Harnos) is stalked by a former fiance (Anthony Cistaro.) NBC.

* "Northern Exposure" (9 p.m.-10 p.m., WJZ, Channel 13) -- In the next to last episode of the series' run, Maurice (Barry Corbin) suffers jealousy over Officer Semanski (Diane Delano) and also encounters the man who stole his valuable violin (Simon Templeman) in an earlier episode. CBS.

* "Apollo 13: To the Edge and Back" (9 p.m.-10:30 p.m., MPT, Channels 22, 67) -- A repeat showing of this documentary special offers a fact-checking opportunity for moviegoers who have seen the hit film about the almost-lost-in-space events of the 1970 moon mission.

* "Dream On" (10 p.m.-10:30 p.m., HBO) -- The adult edition of the series -- i.e., not earlier season shows edited for repeat showing on Fox -- returns for a sixth season as Martin (Brian Benben) consults a psychiatrist (Louise Fletcher) about his love life.

* "Road Rules" (10:30 p.m.-11 p.m., MTV) -- Tucked after "The Real World," which premiered a new season a couple of weeks ago, this new "docu-adventure series" debuts with a set-up episode in which five real young people take off on a cross-country journey in front of the cameras. (The show will air weekly at 10 p.m. Mondays, beginning next week.)

* "The Larry Sanders Show" (10:30 p.m.-11 p.m., HBO) -- In the fourth-season premiere, Larry (Garry Shandling) is apprehensive about a return guest appearance by Roseanne, for at the end of last season they had begun dating. In the meantime -- on the show and in real life -- Roseanne has gone and gotten married. Snippets of the O. J. Simpson trial also find their way into the show, for Larry's staff is absorbed by the trial.
