If you're like me, you probably have noticed that summer vacation is almost half over and you're wondering if you'll ever get through that list of "things to do before school starts."
Take my advice. I revamped the list two weeks ago and made it my "things to do before Christmas" list.
I have to tell you, an incredible paper weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
I suggest you look at some of the activities that are coming up in the next month or so, toss your list and make plans to have fun.
Take note that the summer series of Common Ground on The Hill at Western Maryland College continues this evening and each night this week, focusing on the music of Ireland, Northern Ireland and the British Isles.
An Irish session will begin today in Baker Memorial Chapel at 6:45 p.m., followed by a dance session at 8 p.m.
The cost is $5 per person.
Tomorrow at 8 p.m. a song-writing forum and concert will be presented by several advisers from Western Maryland College in McDaniel Lounge.
Questions and answers are expected to generate open discussions on style and ideas.
The cost is $7 per person.
It's another pub night in the student lounge Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Decker Student Center. The cost is $5 per person.
On Thursday beginning at 7 p.m., a lecture on Irish famine will be presented by Mick Moloney in McDaniel Lounge.
A Celtic concert will be performed at 8 p.m. in front of the library, followed by an open session at the pub.
The cost per person is $10.
Finally, Friday at 7 p.m., a concert featuring advisers and artists Tom Paxton, Anne Hills, Steve Gillette and Cindy Mangsen, Ken Kolodner, Bonnie Rideout, Craobh Rua and Walt Michael and Co. will take place in front of the library.
The cost per person is $10.
Each day from 6:45 p.m. to 8 p.m., the public is invited to enjoy an Irish session in McDaniel Lounge. Children under 12 are admitted free.

The Drifters will perform Sunday at 7 p.m. in Westminster City Park as part of the "Month of Sundays Summer Concert Series."
The concert is sponsored by Carroll County Bank and Trust Co. and is presented by Carroll County Department of Recreation and Parks and Westminster City Recreation, as well as a variety of private companies, community organizations and local government agencies.
Each concert is free and in lieu of an admission fee, concert-goers are asked to take canned foods and other goods to the performance.
These items will be collected by representatives of Human Services Programs of Carroll County Inc. and will be distributed through agencies to needy families.
Don't miss the Drifters as they perform their rock 'n' roll hits, including "Under The Boardwalk" and "This Magic Moment.
Bring an appetite to the concert because Wilhelm Ltd. Caterers and Marciano's, a division of Genova's, will offer food and beverages from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
