Housing construction, fast job growth linked
Places with robust employment growth are where you will find the most residential construction, according to "U.S. Housing Markets," a research publication of Lomas Mortgage USA of Dallas.
Las Vegas leads metropolitan areas in both adding jobs, up 7.7 percent, and issuing residential building permits, 24.5 per 1,000 residents, during the last four quarters.
Other locations among the publication's 12 best housing markets and their ranking among the 15 top employment markets are Naples, Fla.; Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Fort Myers-Cape Coral, Fla.; Phoenix-Mesa, Ariz., (4th); Atlanta (7th); West Palm Beach, Fla.; Orlando, Fla., (2nd); Tucson, Ariz., (15); Charlotte, N.C.; Austin, Texas, (5th); and Albuquerque, N.M. (3rd).
Carriage Hill Village, Fontana Village honored
Two communities were omitted from last week's list of winners of the 1995 Award of Excellence from the Apartment Builders and Owners Council of the Home Builders Association of Maryland. They were Carriage Hill Village, Signature Management, Randallstown, upscale, garden community, one bedroom, two bedroom, three bedroom; and Fontana Village Apartments, Rosedale, Partners Management Co., two-bedroom townhouse.
