6 people are arrested on drug charges

Howard County police arrested six people on drug charges and seized a car Wednesday after searching a Jessup home with a warrant.

Police said they found smoking pipes, rolling papers and what appeared to be marijuana and trace amounts of crack cocaine after arriving at the home in the 8600 block of Pine Tree Road about 10:30 p.m.

Three residents and a Severn man were arrested inside the home, along with two people who were leaving as police arrived.

Resident Michael B. Hess, 34, was held on $2,500 bond at the Howard County Detention Center yesterday. Charles R. Hurley, 48, and Jennifer M. Hurley, 19, also residents, were released on personal recognizance.

Edward F. Simms, 19, of the 1700 block of Green Meadow Court in Severn and Gary A. Paetow, 36, of the first block of Midway Ave. in Laurel were released on personal recognizance.

Brenda L. Wade, 27, of the 9600 block of Sterling Bridge in Columbia, was released on unsecured bond. Her 1994 Chevrolet Camaro was seized, police said.

*Jessup: 9000 block of Dorsey Run Road: A dark green 1984 Chevrolet conversion van with Maryland tags 748616M was stolen from the parking lot at the Maryland Rail Commuter (MARC) station Tuesday, police said.
